Let me tell you my story. About a year ago in May, I changed my diet. I eliminated all gluten. It was not that I needed to or had any digestive issues, but I just did it because I was always feeling a little lethargic. Plus, it is not the best thing for your body anyway, even if you make your own bread and stick to whole wheat. But that is besides the point. I also went high raw. I ate lots and lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and salads.
As you can see from my previous post, I haven't really blogged much since my diet now is pretty simple and I usually eat the same kinds of things. Not really blog worthy material.
Well anyway, in June 2012, I had my last menstrual cycle. I marked it on my calendar as I usually do, and as months passed, I kept missing my period. I missed my period for almost a year from the time I am writing this.
I think it was because I started to eat really clean, but mainly I think I was not eating enough fats and missing some nutrients. I also quickly lost about 10 pounds. And I am already thin as it is, so I really couldn't afford to lose any weight. But I did. So month after month, no period. Not even any spotting.
I was starting to get worried but I did not want to go to the doctor as I have absolutely no interest in taking any sort of prescription to "fix" a problem when all prescription really does is cover up the issue, kind of like a band aid. It does not get to the root cause. And that is what I tried to do, find answers and correct it naturally.
I kept searching for information online, especially on raw food forums. And from what I read, missed periods seems to be a common occurrence when switching to a raw foods diet, but I still did not get any answers or solutions. That is until this past weekend.
I was at a big grocery store with my sister and mom and we were looking at the wide selection of teas they had. There was one tea in particular that caught their eye. It was Yogi Moon Cycle tea. It is supposed to help with your menstrual cycle and with PMS symptoms. It is organic and vegan. I wasn't going to get it, but they insisted and I am glad I did.
I made a cup of tea after dinner on Saturday night. It tasted ok. But like any herbal remedy that is made to help your body, taste should be the least of your concerns. Anyway, I thought it tasted heady, reminiscent of curry powder. It was pleasant for me. I finished my tea and didn't think much of it.
On Sunday morning, I woke up and the first thing I noticed was some spotting. And then guess what? I had gotten my full period back!!! I was shocked. I could not believe it. It has to be the Dong Quai herb in it. But I did not think that it would be so effective, and so soon. If it had not happened to me and I read this somewhere, I would have been yeah right. But it honestly worked for me. Read plenty of reviews here and check the ingredients yourself. I am so grateful that I decided to buy this tea. I am convinced that this tea brought back my menstrual cycle.
It might not work for every female in this situation, especially if you have something else going on in your system. But it is definitely worth a try to help with your irregular period (or complete lack thereof). I am still so amazed that all it took was just one cup of this tea to get my period back. I can't recommend it highly enough. Give it a shot. It beats having to pay for an expensive doctor's visit. And this tea is all natural.
I decided to share this story because I know other females may be in this situation and it can be of help to those that need it. I am still pretty amazed that I got my period back. I hope my story will help you too. Let me know in the comments if it does. And please pass this along to anyone you feel might benefit from reading this. Good luck!
